Whether adventure takes you across the great state of Texas or across the country, Vernon is a great place to be. Roughly half-way between Dallas/Ft. Worth and Amarillo in North Central Texas, We have something for everyone.
Vernon is ALIVE with festive community celebrations throughout the year. Kick up your heels in May at the parade and the Santa Rosa Roundup, one of the oldest rodeos in the nation.
Take an adventure anywhere and someone is bound to get hungry! And, even though Vernon is in the heart of “cattle country,” our restaurants offer a wide range of cultural fare that will curb the most RAVENOUS appetites.
Sometimes, shopping is the biggest adventure of all. While you won’t find a cookie cutter mall here, you will find VARIETY of shopping opportunities. Relax and browse through our unique, one-of-a-kind family owned stores.
Some of the best hunting in Texas is found right here in Wilbarger County. From VENISON to varmints, we’ve got it all. The open grasslands, mesquite pasture and rugged, forested bottom land are home to a variety of wildlife.
History meets the imagination in the VIVID exhibits at the Red River Valley Museum. Located adjacent to the Vernon College campus, the museum is just a mile from Highway 287 on Highway 70 West.
